USA Jump Rope Members,
With the growing concerns regarding the Coronavirus (CDC COVID-19), USA Jump Rope continues to follow the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines.
At this point, the CDC is recommending that sporting events be canceled or played without spectators. With that said, we do have some states that are canceling classes and events or allowing any type of out of state travel and we want to address this right away. Decisions about the implementation of community measures will be made by local and state officials, in consultation with federal officials as appropriate, and based on the scope of the outbreak and the severity of illness. Implementation will require extensive community engagement, with ongoing and transparent public health communications.
USA Jump Rope feels it is in the best interest of our organization and our athletes, coaches, parents and supporters to cancel all Regional tournaments. Our plan at this time is to:
Wild card all freestyle events through to Nationals. This means your Regional fee will still have to be paid under the wild card status.
Competitors that have not reached their speed and power qualifying scores or planned to compete in speed at your Regional tournament will need to hold a team qualifier within your team and submit those scores. There will not be an extra charge for this if you’ve paid your Regional fee. If your team is new or needs assistance with scoring, the Competition Committee will work with you on a case by case basis for speed and power events. Contact our office for guidance. (email@example.com)
We are asking teams to have your coaches/judges handle this task if you have not already. We will work with you on a timeline as we understand some schools are going online only or closing until further notice.
IF your athletes do not plan on attending Nationals and were only attending Regionals, we will give a refund of regional fees. You will need to contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org. We require the request in writing.
IF your team is in a state that allows these activities to continue and you do not have athletes traveling from out of state, you may choose to hold your event. USA Jump Rope cannot and will not be held liable for any illnesses that may be contracted at your event.
This is a singular and unique situation and when this is over the competition format and qualifications will return to our normal protocol. Our actions are in response to an exceptional set of circumstances that places the health and well-being of our athletes and their families above our opportunity to compete. First and foremost, we want our athletes and families to be safe. Please get back to us as soon as you decide how you plan to move forward.
